Edutour was founded in 1988 by Magiel Venema from the Netherlands. Until his recent retirement Magiel Venema was a senior lecturer at the NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences in the city of Breda in the Netherlands.
Magiel Venema is the author of several textbooks on Travel and Tourism, which were adapted widely in the Netherlands and Belgium. He is on the editorial board of the ISTTE's 'Journal of Teaching in Travel and Tourism'.
At present Magiel is a senior consultant with PUM, a Dutch NGO. In this position he has done consultancy jobs for tourism and hospitality schools in Turkey, Russia and, at present, in Indonesia.
